Expert pointed out a serious error in the placement of "Kontakt-1" protection blocks on T-80BV tanks: they will not protect against cumulative projectiles

But they will protect against FPV drones

New footage of a Russian T-80BV tank has appeared online with a vertical configuration of 4S20 "Kontakt-1" dynamic protection elements on the side anti-cumulative screens. However, this placement is fundamentally incorrect, according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

In this case, the angle of inclination of the thrown plates is facing the upper hemisphere. This will provide an anti-cumulative effect from FPV drones attacking at angles greater than 45 degrees, as well as from PG-7VL anti-tank grenades dropped from attack copters.

Vertically oriented ERA "Kontakt-1" will not be able to provide adequate protection against cumulative projectiles attacking the tank at safe maneuvering angles of 25-30 degrees.
