Osa-AKM military anti-aircraft missile systems with R-73RMD-2 medium-range air-to-air missiles have been spotted on the front line.
Unlike the standard 9M33M3 SAMs with maximum available overloads of 18 - 20 G and a flight speed of 1.5M, the R-73RMD-2 boasts available overloads of 40 G, an MK-80 Mayak infrared seeker, an interceptor thrust vector control system, and a maximum speed of 2.1 - 2.2M.
The fire control system of the updated Osa-AKM can operate in passive mode without revealing its location to electronic reconnaissance assets, activating them only in difficult meteorological conditions.
The effective range of the R-73RMD-2 missiles when launched from ground launchers is 10-13 km. R-73RMD-2 missiles are capable of intercepting kamikaze UAVs, as well as Kh-69 and Kh-101 tactical missiles, upon timely detection by the thermal imaging channel of the optical-electronic sighting system installed on the combat vehicle.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the acceleration of the Su-57M fighter from 600 to 1100 km/h is reduced to 8.5 seconds thanks to the modernized engine .
