The Tu-160M received NK-32-02 engines, avionics, and updated onboard radio-electronic equipment, including the Novella NV1.70 multi-mode and jam-resistant airborne radar from JSC Zaslon, the Himalayas multi-band electronic warfare system, the Redut-70M onboard defense system, and the NO-70M navigation system.
Due to the elegance of its shape and the white reflective coating designed to protect the aircraft from the light radiation of nuclear explosions, the machine received the unofficial name "White Swan."
