AvtoVAZ, together with the Togliatti company "Alternative Fuel Systems", has developed a new factory version of the Lada Vesta CNG car, running on methane. A demonstration model of the Vesta Cross cross-universal in the maximum Techno configuration with a continuously variable transmission and an engine capacity of 1.8 liters was presented at the Comtrans-24 exhibition.
Despite the fact that it was not possible to completely replace imported gas equipment, a moderate increase in the cost of the CNG version is expected - by approximately 60 thousand rubles.
In the previous version, bi-fuel Lada Vesta CNGs were produced mainly in basic configurations in a sedan body, which was especially in demand in taxis. The Comtrans-24 exhibition showed the possibility of installing gas cylinders on a cross-universal.
Gas tanks with a volume of 90 liters were placed in the underground space of the trunk, replacing the spare wheel. The range on methane is estimated at 250 km, the 55-liter gasoline tank was also retained, the total range is more than 1000 km.
The start of production of bi-fuel cars is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. The basic bi-fuel version of the sedan with a manual transmission at current prices may cost about 1.6 million rubles, and the demonstration version with a variator - about 2.25 million rubles.
