Страх перед ретроградным Меркурием вынудил россиян отказаться от покупок

Every second Muscovite believes in astrology

Almost half of Muscovites believe in the influence of Mercury retrograde on their lives. One in ten residents of the capital tries not to make purchases at this time. These are the results of an ADG group survey on the superstitions of Muscovites.

5% of respondents avoid large purchases during this period, 3% of respondents do not buy equipment, fearing that it will break down. In addition, another 3% of survey participants prefer not to plan significant events during the period of Mercury retrograde.

Why are people so afraid of Mercury retrograde?

In astrology, Mercury retrograde is the phenomenon when the planet appears to be moving in the opposite direction. Astrologers associate periods when the planet appears to be moving with errors in communication, delays in transport, and technical failures. They constantly warn about possible problems that may arise in such cycles.

What else do Muscovites believe in

Half of Muscovites (48%) believe in astrology, and almost as many (49%) regularly read horoscopes. Every third survey participant regularly studies general horoscopes, and every fifth studies personal ones.

Approximately 44% of the capital's residents trust folk beliefs, and 52% trust dreams. At the same time, the vast majority of survey participants (92%) are convinced that dreams are a time when the brain subconsciously analyzes information and creates dreams. Only 8% of respondents believe that dreams are a way to communicate with higher powers and an opportunity to look into the future.

The majority of the capital's residents – 68% – are convinced of the existence of karma, while 32% of those surveyed deny it.

Every fourth respondent – 25% – has at least once used the services of fortune tellers. Of these, 9% have done this repeatedly, and 3% of study participants regularly use the services of predictors.

A third of the capital's residents have at least once turned to Tarot cards to find out their fate. However, only 14% of respondents consider this method reliable.

Most respondents (65%) treated fortune telling on Tarot cards as a fun activity and entertainment. However, every fifth Muscovite (21%) considered it a scam that should be banned.

Another "fear" of Russians is magnetic storms. Earlier, Anatoly Petrukovich, a Russian physicist, specialist in the field of space plasma and director of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained how they occur and why residents of the Earth may experience a deterioration in well-being during such phenomena. He believes that the state of a person during magnetic storms is more influenced by weather fluctuations, changes in atmospheric pressure and abnormal heat.
