Record holder among "Sushki": Su-27 fighter with R-27ER1 missiles and KAB - one of the symbols of Russian aviation

The Russian Aerospace Forces are armed with the fourth-generation Su-27 fighter. The first prototype of the aircraft took to the skies in May 1977 and is still relevant on the front lines for gaining air superiority.

The Su-27 remains one of the main symbols of Russian aviation. Fighters created on its base are among the most popular in the world. Since 2000 alone, about 700 aircraft of this family have been delivered abroad.

In total, 70 records were set on Su aircraft, some of which have not been broken to this day. The Su-27 fighter is the main record holder among the "Sushki". It accounts for the largest number of achievements - 51.

Composite materials were not used in the creation of the Su-27, but 30% of the consoles and airframe are made of titanium. The Su-27 project turned out to be so successful that it was used for the further development of Russian fighter aviation.

In particular, the Su-30 multirole, the Su-37 super-maneuverable, as well as the Su-34 fighter-bomber and the Su-35 multi-functional fighter were developed on the basis of the Su-27.

Combat load - 8000 kg on 10 suspension units: guided air-to-air missiles of medium range R-27ER1, R-27ET1, R-27ETE and R-27ERE, up to 4 short-range UR R-73; air-to-surface missiles 6×Kh-29 or 6×Kh-31 or 2×Kh-59; NAR - 80×S-8 or 20×S-13 or 4×S-25; aerial bombs 31×250 kg, 8×500 kg or 38×100 kg or 3×KAB-150 or 6×KAB-500.
