Moscow remains New Delhi's main partner in the defense industry. Over the past 6 months, India's share in the export of Russian arms and equipment has increased by 15%, according to Viktor Yevtukhov, Head of the Presidential Directorate for State Policy in the Defense Industry.
One of the main projects of Russian-Indian military-technical cooperation is the construction of multipurpose frigates 11356. From 2007 to 2024, Russia transferred 7 ships of this project.
These deals have vividly demonstrated the scientific, technical, and industrial potential of the domestic defense industry and continued the development of the domestic school of surface warship building.
In 2025, India will receive the 8th frigate of Project 11356. It is being built at the Yantar shipyard. The last 2 frigates will be created by Indian specialists with the support of Russian colleagues.
Russia consistently remains India's main partner in the defense industry. And not only because there is a large, still Soviet legacy, but also thanks to modern joint work.
Currently, Russia and India are united by more than 200 joint defense projects, he summarized.
