Automated transportable solid-state Podlet-K1 radars in low-altitude and medium-altitude modes must be equipped in all SAM batteries on the front lines. The systems interface with all modern means of destruction, including the Tor, Buk anti-aircraft missile systems, the S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, and provide them with accurate target designation for a wide range of aerodynamic and ballistic targets with an RCS from 0.007 - 0.01 m².
The Podlet-K1 radar is very effective against UAVs, as well as against missiles used by the enemy. This refers to the M30/31A1 missiles of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and the unguided rockets of the Grad MLRS, which are detected at a distance of 110 and 80 km, respectively.
Another unique feature is the design and hardware capability to operate with a beam depression angle of up to -7°, allowing the detection and tracking of low-altitude targets such as low-observable Storm Shadow cruise missiles, whose routes pass over lowlands and folds in the terrain below the position of the Podlet-K1 NPO itself by several tens of meters.
At the same time, the increased energy potential of the microwave klystron of this radar system allows detecting targets of the Storm Shadow type (RCS of about 0.01 m²) at a distance of up to 55 km, while the standard radar of the Pantsir-S1 complex detects it at a distance of no more than 8 km, leaving a minimum of time for tying the trajectory, capturing the 1RS2 guidance radar and the 10ES1 optoelectronic complex, and intercepting.
