In 2025, a new Russian electric car called Amber will appear on the market. Its cost, according to preliminary data, will be about 1 million rubles. Recently, a photograph of the model from a closed show was published online, in which it looks much better than the prototype presented a year earlier.
The Amber car belongs to the L7 category, which corresponds to heavy quadricycles or compact SUVs. Its design consists of a tubular frame and composite parts.
Amber is planned to be produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, where a pre-production model is already being tested. Mass production is expected in the second or third quarter of 2025.
The funds allocated to Avtotor for the creation of a production line for electric vehicles amount to almost 4 billion rubles. This will allow the company to produce about 50 thousand electric vehicles annually, and Amber will be fully localized in Russia.
As a reminder, the design of the new electric car was carried out jointly with the Moscow Polytechnic University. The car's design uses many Russian-made components, including an electric motor, gearbox, chassis, steering, traction battery, power electronics, body and its systems.
