Ust-Katav Wagon-Building Plant (UKVZ) won the tender and received the first order for the low-floor three-section tram 71-639 "Kastor". It will be delivered to Yekaterinburg. This was announced by the director of the enterprise, Roman Novikov.

The contract value amounted to 174.6 million rubles, including VAT. In the spring of 2024, the tram 71-639 "Kastor" was tested in Chelyabinsk, then it was tested in Yekaterinburg.

Its key advantage is the shortest length among low-floor three-section trams in Russia, at 25.8 m. In addition, it is capable of passing curves with a radius of 14 m.
