Batches of multifunctional Su-35S fighters with unique high-energy N035 Irbis airborne radars based on passive phased array are entering the combat units of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev named the disadvantages of this complex.

At the same time, they have a peak microwave magnetron power of up to 20 kW. This provides a detection range of an F-16C fighter of about 320 km, the maximum speed of tracked targets is 5500 km/h.
Low-observable targets with an RCS of 0.01 sq. m. are detected at a distance of 90 km. The radar can simultaneously track up to 30 targets and provide guidance for up to eight different air-to-air missiles.
