Specialists from JSC "NIIEFA" (part of the Rosatom Group) have developed a preliminary design for a facility with thermonuclear plasma and the possibility of implementing deuterium-tritium burning. The development took place within the framework of the federal project "Development of Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion Technologies and Innovative Plasma Technologies" of the comprehensive program for the development of atomic science, technology and technology (KP RTTN).
This is a crucial milestone, largely determining the development of domestic controlled thermonuclear fusion technologies. The results provide the possibility of moving to the next stage - the development of a technical design for a tokamak.
The facility is a tokamak with a long discharge pulse, an electromagnetic system made of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) and a strong magnetic field.
Organizations of the Rosatom State Corporation and the Russian Academy of Sciences are participating in the creation of the facility: JSC "NIIEFA", ITER Project Center, JSC "NIKIET" and others.
The construction of TRT is an important step towards mastering controlled thermonuclear fusion and creating an energy thermonuclear reactor in Russia, an environmentally friendly energy source with virtually inexhaustible fuel resources.
