Russian naval aviation must be prepared to repel attacks by low-signature, high-speed unmanned Magura V5 strike boats. Analyst Yevgeny Damantsev revealed the best ways to defend against these surface drones.
He recalled that the Russian Navy has already begun testing deck-based FPV interceptor drones equipped with two PG-7VM shaped-charge warheads with armor penetration of 300 mm for steel armor plates, 700 mm for reinforced concrete slabs, and 1800 mm for pillboxes. They will be used as part of deck-based interceptor squadrons designed to intercept Magura V5, thanks to thermal and television sensors.
Damantsev recalled that the enemy can equip BECs with individual protection electronic warfare systems. Consequently, the command and telemetry channel modules must be multi-band.
Based on the performance characteristics of onboard radar and optoelectronic modules, we are already aware of the high efficiency of tracking and engaging Magura V5 by Su-30SM multirole fighters, Ka-28 and Mi-28N/NM helicopters, as well as Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft equipped with Novella-P-38 targeting and search systems.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the latest drones with thermobaric shells have appeared on the front lines.
