Information has surfaced online that German authorities will task MBDA Deutschland with a deep modernization of 600 Taurus cruise missiles to enable flight at extremely low altitudes along the entire route to the target and extend their service life to 45 years.
The authors of the Telegram channel "Russian Weapon" explained that such an update would require a response from the Russian military.
The emergence of this version of Taurus requires the placement of all types of detection, tracking, and targeting radars of Russian SAM systems, including the 50N6A of the S-350A "Vityaz" complexes, on universal low-altitude detection towers.
Software and hardware updates will affect the inertial navigation unit of the guidance system, the operating algorithms of the radar altimeter, as well as the optoelectronic correlation module IBN to implement an ultra-low-altitude flight profile at altitudes of 50 - 20 m, bypassing the terrain.
This will further reduce the low-altitude sector of stable tracking of TAURUS by the 9S36M illumination radar of the Buk-M3 SAM system and the 92N6 radar of the S-400 systems.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Su-30MS fighters of naval aviation received R-37M long-range missiles in the weapons system.
