The Russian company Beshtau, which is engaged in import-substituting radio electronics and computer equipment, has postponed the launch of a laptop manufacturing plant in Rostov-on-Don to 2025. Co-founder of the company, Vladimir Kuznetsov, said that the main reason for the postponement was difficulties with processing payments to component suppliers, logistical problems, as well as delays with the technological connection to engineering networks.
Initially, the launch of the plant was planned for the fall of 2024. Currently, the company's plants in Rostov-on-Don and Yessentuki are operating in test mode: the equipment is fully installed and connected, and the necessary personnel have been recruited. The full-scale launch of production has been postponed to 2025. Despite the delays, the company expects to double production to 200,000 units in 2024 due to the completion of the establishment of all necessary processes.
The plant in Rostov-on-Don will become a key element of the project with investments of 8 billion rubles. On its territory, which will be about 9 thousand square meters, the production of laptops from components of its own production, lithium-ion batteries and electronic boards will be organized. The project envisages the creation of more than 700 jobs.
Vladimir Kuznetsov stressed that by the beginning of 2024, the company had completed the first two years of formation, including the construction of production facilities and the launch of processes. Since mid-2023, Beshtau has been operating at full capacity, and 2024 will be the first full production cycle. Thus, despite the delays in launching the new plant, the company continues to actively develop its production and expand its activities.
