The "winter package" is a set of car options that increase the comfort of vehicle operation in winter. Its presence in cars sold in Russia is usually highlighted separately by the dealer, indicating that this is an additional plus when choosing a new car. However, not all cars presented in showrooms have a full "winter package", and some "warm" options are generally considered quite rare. This was found out by analysts at "Auto.ru". We tell you more.
In total, 920 models of cars sold in Russia officially and through "gray" schemes were studied. Heated mirrors were only found in 83% of them. Heated seats were available in only 74% of models. The rear seats were heated even less - in only 32% of new cars. Heated steering wheel was available in 43% of cars.
The rarest options were heated windshield washer nozzles (23%) and electric windshield heating (21%). Less than 2% of models had a programmable heater.
For some new cars, "warm" options for the Russian market have been improved over time. For example, in Chery and its sub-brands, only the seat cushions were initially heated. Later, heating of the backrests was added, but not on all models. The windshield heating on the Haval Jolion used to turn off while driving. Now the logic of the windshield heating has been changed.
Among the new cars that have recently begun to adapt to the Russian winter is the Voyah Free Sport Edition hybrid. It received new "warm" options. The Solaris HC crossover has acquired a telematics system with remote start.
It is noted that "warm" options do not appear immediately, but after persistent demands from Russian importers. Some of the manufacturers understood the need of Russians for such options, noted auto journalist Maxim Kadakov.
