JSC "VNIIZhT" has successfully conducted tests of an accelerated container train (UCP). Specialists assessed the aerodynamic impact on infrastructure facilities and oncoming Sapsan high-speed trains.
The UCP consisted of five high-speed fitting platforms of model 13-6704 "Zarya" for transporting containers at speeds up to 140 km/h. The design of each platform is equipped with a three-axle bogie.
Thanks to its design advantages, the platform has an increased carrying capacity with a lower load on the infrastructure — 20 tons per axle. It has 18 variations for placing various containers, a carrying capacity of 75 tons, and is designed for high-speed transportation of delicate goods with high added value.
The tests were carried out on the Moscow-St. Petersburg route of the Oktyabrskaya Railway. The impact on the oncoming Sapsan, which was moving at a speed of up to 250 km/h, was investigated using special sensors when the UCP was moving at a speed of up to 140 km/h. Experts confirmed the safety of the container train for people and infrastructure facilities.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Railways showed the interior of the high-speed train.
