Карты Газпромбанка системы UnionPay не работают в девяти странах мира — даже в Китае

In Astana, ATMs reject cards with a notification that the operation cannot be completed

In nine countries, the service of UnionPay cards issued by the Russian Gazprombank has been discontinued, TASS reports. These countries include Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Turkey, the UAE and Thailand. According to Kommersant, a similar situation is observed in China, where cardholders cannot withdraw money from ICBC ATMs.

  • In Hungary, when trying to withdraw cash from OTP ATMs, a message appears that Gazprombank's UnionPay cards are not accepted by this financial institution. OTP remained the only bank in the country that served such cards.
  • In Vietnam, local ATMs return the card with a notification of incorrect transaction when trying to make a transaction.
  • In Germany, when requesting a withdrawal at Sparkasse ATMs, a message appears that this service is not available. In addition, Deutsche Bank has also stopped servicing Gazprombank cards.
  • In the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, ATMs also reject cards with a notification that the operation cannot be completed. In some stores in the city, it is impossible to make a payment.
  • In Qatar, ATMs display messages that it is impossible to verify the status of the card or that the card is not authorized for the transaction.
  • In Turkey, in particular, in Ankara and Istanbul, when trying to withdraw cash from a card, a message about a technical error appears or a notification that the card is not serviced. Some devices also inform that the bank does not authorize transactions with this card.
  • In the United Arab Emirates, ATMs display a message about a technical error when trying to use a Gazprombank card, stating that the card is either blocked or not active.
  • In Thailand, Gazprombank cards are also denied service, returning them with a notification of an incorrect operation.

The possibility of issuing UnionPay cards has disappeared from the official website of Gazprombank. The bank has not yet commented on these changes.

Earlier www1.ru reported on the difficulties encountered when using UnionPay cards abroad. First, cards issued by Gazprombank ceased to be serviced in Turkey and Thailand.
