AvtoVAZ has started conveyor assembly of the new LADA Iskra model in a cross-wagon body, according to insiders. This is the third version of the car, which will be presented in the lineup along with the sedan and the regular wagon. All versions will be built on the redesigned CMF-B modular platform, which was obtained from Renault-Nissan.
The base engine will be a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 90 hp, working in tandem with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is also a version planned with a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 106 hp, which will be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. In addition, a modification with a 1.6-liter engine and a CVT will be available.
LADA Iskra will be sold in parallel with LADA Granta, but should eventually replace this model. The project to create LADA Iskra was estimated at 37 billion rubles, and it was originally planned that the car would appear back in 2022. However, due to Renault's departure from Russia and the transfer of AvtoVAZ under state control, the plans were postponed.
