NATO armament specialists and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory became interested in the operation of individual systems of the advanced Russian Su-57 fighter. This was reported by the National Interest publication with reference to informed sources in the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to the source, particular interest was aroused by the operating modes and efficiency of the N036 Belka airborne radar in identifying ground targets at ranges of more than 100 km, as well as detecting targets with an effective reflecting surface of about 0.01 - 0.05 m².
In addition, the jam resistance and cryptographic strength of the channels of the S-111-N airborne communication complex, as well as the effectiveness of the 101KS-O laser-beam optical-electronic counteraction complex in countering anti-aircraft guided missiles and infrared homing heads, were also of interest.
