The flight lasted about 5 hours, and was escorted by Su-30SM and Su-27 aircraft.

The department noted that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the North Atlantic, the Arctic, the Pacific Ocean, the Baltic and Black Seas. Tu-22M is a supersonic missile-carrying bomber with variable wing geometry. Designed to engage ground and sea targets with cruise missiles, aerial bombs, as well as nuclear warheads.
