The Russian military has sufficient means to intercept low-observable SCALP-EG tactical missiles. This was pointed out by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
He noted that the maximum range of SCALP-EG missiles is 560 km, but, like Storm Shadow, they have a large infrared signature due to the turbojet engine's exhaust duct being located close to the nozzle section.
Thanks to this, the missile can be easily detected in the mid-wave (3 - 5 μm) infrared range by 10ES1 optoelectronic modules at a distance of 15 - 7 km, depending on the viewing angle and meteorological conditions, after which it can be intercepted by 57E6 anti-aircraft missiles.
Buk-M3/A, S-300V4 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems are capable of intercepting SCALP-EG missiles at even greater distances - 25-45 km thanks to more powerful 9S36M, 9S32M4 and 92N6 illumination radars.
Earlier www1.ru reported that an effective way to protect against FPV drones on fiber optics has been found: the Pantsir and Strela air defense systems will leave the birds no chance.
