The Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation will present the Viking medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) at the Airshow China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition. It is capable of operating effectively in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures, the corporation's press service noted.
The Viking is capable of destroying advanced and modern strategic and tactical aircraft, including those using stealth technology, tactical ballistic and cruise missiles, reconnaissance and strike systems, helicopters and UAVs, as well as radio-contrast targets.
At the same time, the SAM system can operate effectively in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures.
Almaz-Antey will also showcase the S-350E Vityaz, S-400 Triumph, Tunguska-M1, and the Tor family of SAM systems at the exhibition.
Main characteristics of the Viking SAM system:
- Aircraft engagement with RCS of 2 m² at slant range – up to 65 km, altitude – up to 25 km
- Tactical ballistic missile engagement range – 25 km
- Cruise missile engagement range – 20 km
- Helicopter engagement range – 60 km
