The head of the Rostec State Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, told students at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) that the Russian MC-21 aircraft was the most affected by sanctions. More than 80 systems and components of the aircraft had to be replaced - they were replaced with domestic ones.
Our MC-21 is perhaps the most sanctioned civil aircraft in the history of aircraft construction.
According to him, imported composite materials have now been replaced with domestic ones. Engineers also replaced the American engine with a Russian-designed engine. It's called PD-14.
MC-21 certification tests will be carried out soon, Chemezov added.
The official said that engineers are also actively replacing SSJ-100 components with domestic ones. About 200 components were replaced. He assured that the aircraft will be completely domestic.
It should be reminded that the MC-21 is being developed by the Yakovlev Corporation, which is part of the United Aircraft Corporation holding. Its first flight took place in 2016.
