The authorities of Niger and Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of the Roscosmos State Corporation) have signed an agreement for the purchase of 3 satellites. The spacecraft are needed to provide communication, remote sensing of the Earth, and as a radar for solving defense and security tasks.
The agreement states that 3 satellites will be deployed to ensure the security of the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States: Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso. The manufacturing of the satellites will take about 4 years.
During this period, Glavkosmos will provide Niger with equipment for rent. Russia will also assist with the training of specialists in the management of spacecraft.
