The Russian government has expanded the list of special equipment authorized for use in ensuring transport security, including equipment for combating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The innovations are aimed at protecting transport infrastructure and vehicles from possible threats from drones. The decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The list includes "special technical equipment" designed to neutralize unmanned aerial, underwater, and surface vehicles, as well as other automated unmanned systems operating on the radio frequency spectrum. The decree also defines the rules for the acquisition, storage, carrying, accounting, destruction, and repair of these means.
According to experts, the market for technologies and devices to counter drones in the civilian sector has grown significantly over the past year. If in 2023 its volume did not exceed 10 billion rubles, then by the end of 2024 it may reach 30 billion rubles, which indicates a growing need for such security systems.
