Bulletproof vest and service weapon: Rules for private security guards in schools to change in Russia

Rosstandart has approved amendments to GOST regulating the work of private security companies

Rosstandart has approved amendments to GOST regulating the work of private security companies (PSC) on school grounds, according to the head of the agency, Anton Shalaev.

The changes come into force on January 1, 2025. The new requirements apply to private security guards working at preschool, general education and vocational education organizations.

Guards will be required to undergo additional physical training in case of an attack or emergency. Under normal conditions, they will carry handcuffs and a rubber baton.

If the regional authorities introduce a heightened alert, private security guards will receive bulletproof vests, helmets and service weapons. To do this, they need to obtain the appropriate license.
