Gazprom and Botas Collaboration: Gas Trading Center to be Established in Istanbul

The project will be implemented in 2025

Turkey and Russia will begin implementing a new project — the creation of a new gas hub in Istanbul. This was announced by Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

In 2025, we will create a powerful infrastructure that, in partnership with Botas and Gazprom, will manage the trading platform in the Istanbul Financial Center. We have sent them a memorandum of understanding.

The Istanbul Gas Index will be used in trading.

It is worth noting that the construction of a gas trading center in Turkey was first announced by Vladimir Putin in 2022. Russia's interest in implementing the project arose against the backdrop of explosions on the Nord Streams and the introduction of Western sanctions.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Turkey offered Russia to build a new nuclear power plant.
