Turkish authorities plan to start electricity production at the Akkuyu NPP (Mersin Province) within a year, said Yusuf Ceylan, Head of the Department of Nuclear Energy and International Projects of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic. The nuclear facility is being built by specialists from Rosatom.
We expect to launch all four reactors of the station by 2028.
The first power unit is scheduled to be commissioned in 2025. However, the authorities are trying to move this date forward. October 29 was mentioned as one of the possible launch dates.
Four power units with Rosatom VVER generation III+ reactors will be installed at the Akkuyu NPP. The capacity of each power unit is 1,200 MW.
