Российская компания «Базис» разрабатывает замену VMware NSX для управления виртуальными сетями

The development is scheduled to be completed by 2025

The Russian company "Basis", created in collaboration with Rostelecom, Yadro, and Rubytech, has signed an agreement with the developers of the Angie web server. They will work on creating their own solution for managing virtual networks, which should replace the popular American product VMware NSX. This is important because, due to sanctions, many foreign solutions have become unavailable on the Russian market. The development of the new system is scheduled to be completed by 2025, and it will be used in areas such as finance, communications, and online stores.

SDN, or software-defined networking, is a method of managing networks that allows them to be controlled using software. This makes networks more flexible and easier to manage. VMware NSX is a system that helps create and manage virtual networks.

The new SDN solution from Angie for "Basis" will have the ability to centrally manage networks, just like foreign counterparts. This means that companies will be able to save money on IT because the new solution will not require a major upgrade of existing equipment. The domestic infrastructure software market is expected to grow to 272 billion rubles by 2030. This solution will help Russia reduce its dependence on foreign technologies.

The project involves about 100 specialists, and its cost is hundreds of millions of rubles. Experts believe that such a local solution will be useful for large Russian companies that want to switch to domestic products for managing their IT infrastructure in the face of sanctions.
