A universal cartridge for small arms with increased armor-piercing characteristics has been developed in Russia. The components of the ammunition are environmentally friendly materials.
The development patent indicates that experimental studies have confirmed the stated improvement in armor penetration characteristics. Experimental cartridges were assembled in the standard 5.45-mm caliber, and firing was conducted from an AK-74M assault rifle alternately with a standard cartridge and an experimental cartridge at distances of 100 m and 150 m at an armor plate.
According to the table, at a firing distance of 100 m at an armor plate, the effectiveness of the experimental cartridge reached 100%, at a distance of 150 m - 60%, with the effectiveness of the standard cartridge being 80% and 0%, respectively.
