A T-90A main battle tank, model 2006, has been spotted at the production facilities of "Uralvagonzavod". It is equipped with an Essa multi-channel gunner's sight, based on the French Catherine-FC thermal imager.
The system is capable of detecting targets such as tanks or infantry fighting vehicles at a range of 4300 m. The vehicle is also equipped with a 2A46M-5 gun, the charging chamber of which is adapted for the use of armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot projectiles ZBM60 "Svinets-2".
Presumably, the vehicle is subject to restoration or modernization with the retrofitting of the Arena-M active protection system and dispatch to active units, while earlier T-90A models of 2004 and T-72BA will be modernized to the level of T-90M "Proryv-3".
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian military personnel had refined the popular Mavic reconnaissance quadcopter Mavic. Soldiers clad the drone in a protective "mangal" net, which will help it from aerial UAV attacks.
