The Egyptian "El Dabaa" NPP will be launched in 2028. This was announced by Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom State Corporation.

According to the head of the state corporation, this will be "absolutely green electricity." The development of an entire region will be able to focus on the new electricity.
This will be electricity with parameters that can be controlled for decades, because we have a very low dependence of the cost of electricity on external factors. In fact, only the price of uranium fluctuates, but it accounts for 3-5% of the cost of electricity.
More than 20 thousand people are involved in the construction of the "El Dabaa" NPP, 90% of them are Egyptians.
By using local construction resources, we significantly reduce the cost of the station. It is one thing to bring large structures from Russia, bring workers, and another thing to use all the opportunities on the spot.
It is worth noting that the "El Dabaa" NPP is the first nuclear power plant in Egypt (being built in the Matrouh province on the Mediterranean coast). The facility will include four power units with a capacity of 1.2 thousand megawatts each with Russian VVER-1200 class water-cooled reactors.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom started installing a core catcher at power unit No. 3 of the Egyptian El Dabaa NPP.
