PJSC UAC (part of the Rostec State Corporation) demonstrated in practice one of the production technologies for domestic aircraft parts — vibro-strengthening with steel balls.
Three highly qualified employees work in a special area, making parts more durable for installation on Il-96, Il-76, MC-21, and Superjets.
Vibro-strengthening improves the properties of materials in aircraft construction – increases static endurance and extends durability under repeated loads. Its principle is based on the use of vibrations that redistribute stress. The technology is used for parts with variable loads. For example, wing panels, fuselage, landing gear compartment, center wing section. External vibration sources and resonant devices are used for strengthening. In addition to vibro-impact strengthening, vibro-grinding with a mixture of abrasive granules and quartzite is also used.
This technology originally appeared at the Voronezh Aviation Plant and was used for the construction of the Tu-144, later it spread to other airliners.
