Истребит танки и РСЗО противника за 100 км: ЗРК Patriot, IRIS-T SLM и NASAMS не перехватят ПТРК «Гермес»

Western SAM systems will remain powerless against the system's high-speed missile

The Hermes multi-purpose missile system is one step away from achieving operational readiness. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained the advantages of the domestic novelty over Western anti-aircraft systems.

According to him, the key advantage of this ATGM is its range. When used from the suspension units of an airborne carrier (Hermes-A), it reaches 100 km, and 35-50 km from a ground/ship-based launcher (Hermes/-K).

This range is achieved thanks to the bi-caliber two-stage design of the ATGM with a high-speed 2nd combat stage of increased ballistics. A similar design is embodied in the 57E6E anti-aircraft guided missile of the Pantsir-S1 SAM system.

The initial speed of the missile is 1300 m/s, the average speed on the trajectory when flying at maximum range is 550 - 600 m/s. Intercepting the Hermes ATGM with modern anti-aircraft missile systems will be very difficult due to the very small radar cross-section - about 0.005 m².

The AN/MPQ-53 multi-functional radar of the Patriot complexes, if it can detect the 2nd stage of the Hermes, will do so at a distance of no more than 10-15 km, when 5-10 km remain to the dead zone. With an approach speed of 500 m/s, the crew will have practically no time window for interception. The IRIS-T SLM and NASAMS complexes will also not be able to resist the Hermes missiles.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian army reduced losses of Supercam reconnaissance drones to almost zero. UAV operators know in advance where the enemy's air defense and electronic warfare points are located.
