Russian military personnel at the forefront have begun using the Soviet 82-mm 2B14 “Podnos” mortar in conjunction with the ZALA 421-16E HD territorial optoelectronic reconnaissance UAV. It is indispensable in close combat when destroying the enemy in terrain folds and trenches, behind reverse slopes of heights and houses.
The work of the two combat systems was combined into a single reconnaissance and strike loop. The ZALA operator in the television range detected an enemy HMMWV armored vehicle, after which he issued target designation to the “Podnos” crew.
The target was hit from a distance of about 2.9 km with a maximum firing range of 3922 m with a rate of fire of 15 rounds/min, with correction of elevation and azimuth aiming parameters after each shot.
