The launch of the multifunctional radar satellite "Obzor-R" has been postponed to the beginning of 2025, according to Dmitry Baranov, General Director of the "Rocket and Space Center 'Progress'."

In an interview with TASS, he clarified that the spacecraft is planned to be prepared and sent to the cosmodrome in December 2024. Thus, the launch of the spacecraft may be possible in the first quarter of 2025.

Baranov also noted that the onboard equipment for "Obzor-R" arrived at the enterprise in April 2024. Currently, the technical design of the second "Obzor-R" spacecraft is underway, with completion scheduled for May 2025. The launch of the second spacecraft under a state contract is expected in 2029. In addition, he confirmed the postponement of the launch of the biological satellite "Bion-M" No. 2 to next year.

In June, Mikhail Khailov, Deputy General Director of Roscosmos for Space Complexes and Systems, announced plans to launch "Obzor-R" by the end of 2024.
