A video has appeared online showing a fifth-generation Su-57 of the Russian Aerospace Forces carrying two Kh-59M2 "Ovod-M2" cruise missiles on external hardpoints. This effectively negated the aircraft's stealth characteristics, writes Military Watch Magazine.
Fifth-generation Su-57 fighters are designed with a reduced radar cross-section (RCS) to enhance stealth. However, missiles on external hardpoints increase the RCS, depriving it of "stealth" technology.
Thus, the Su-57 loses its main advantages, writes Military Watch Magazine. But the use of relatively inexpensive Kh-59 missiles allows increasing the number of sorties.
