Lada Vesta may get a more powerful engine. It will be based on the current 1.8-liter engine.

Oleg Grunenkov, Head of Product Programs and Projects at AvtoVAZ, told Autonews that the company will continue to work on improving the 1.8-liter engine used in Vesta and Aura cars.

Experts are striving to increase its performance. The lack of power does not yet allow domestic products to compete with foreign ones in speed. For example, the Lada Aura accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.5 seconds.

AvtoVAZ representatives do not disclose details about what kind of work will be carried out on the engine. However, they confirm that its scale will be comparable to creating a new engine. Perhaps the developers will increase the working volume of the unit.

As a reminder, Lada Vesta with new options has already appeared at Russian car dealerships. Its arsenal includes an ESC stability control system, side airbags, a three-stage heated front seats, a rear-view camera with dynamic trajectory lines, automatic folding mirrors, and rain and light sensors.

The company also introduced a new, more affordable version of Vesta with an automatic transmission.
