The largest Iranian automaker, Iran Khodro, is preparing its updated Tara car for vehicle type approval (OTTS) for serial local assembly in Russia and the start of sales in 2025 on the Russian car market. This was reported by the specialized Telegram channel "Russian Automobile etc."
According to their data, the new Iran Khodro Tara 2025 model, which is being sent for testing to FSUE NAMI, was showcased at the "CarX – 2024" auto business forum in early October. It has differently located power window buttons, an option to open the trunk with a wave of the foot, new electric drives for the front seats, optics, and some other updates. This car, after receiving OTTS in mid-December 2024, will be released on the Russian market in January 2025. In parallel with the start of sales, it will become clear at which of the Russian plants the local assembly of Iran Khodro Tara will begin.
It is noted that assembly is "planned to start with SKD (assembly from six large blocks), and then slowly move to CKD". Its launch will take at least six months.
Regarding the prices for the new car, Vyacheslav Koltunov, a marketer at the Iran Khodro distributor "Mamarus," noted that before the increase in the recycling fee, the previous version of the Iran Khodro Tara with an automatic transmission cost 1.9 million rubles. And the Iranian side would like to keep this price for 2025.
