The press service of Russian Railways reports that Russian Railways has received a positive conclusion from Glavgosexpertiza for the construction of a second track on the BAM section Moni – Apkan in the Khabarovsk Territory. It became the first object approved as part of the III stage of modernization of the Eastern Polygon.
According to the project, the railway workers will have to lay 9.5 km of track, build three bridges and several technological structures. In total, by 2032 inclusive, it is necessary to build more than 2000 km of tracks and over 1500 artificial structures, such as bridges, tunnels and culverts. Among the key objects are the duplicates of the longest Severomuysky tunnel in Russia, the highest-mountain Kodar tunnel, the easternmost Kuznetsov tunnel and the longest bridge on the BAM across the Amur River.
These measures will allow increasing the carrying capacity of the Eastern Polygon to 270 million tons by the end of 2032.
