Russian IT Professional Certification System Developed

New regulation will be unified for recognizing the quality of vendor products

The Russian Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises (APKIT) has announced the creation and approval of a new regulation for the certification of vendor products from domestic IT professionals. APKIT, which includes giants such as VK, 1C, and Softline, will accredit vendor certification centers in various cities of Russia, study and evaluate the content of their tests. It also undertakes obligations in resolving disputes between certification centers and developers.

It is assumed that the certification system from APKIT will help eliminate gaps in the assessment of qualifications and improve the quality of training for the IT industry. However, the need for players to comply with all norms may lead to an increase in the cost of IT services in the Russian market. The timing of the certification implementation is unknown, as it still needs to be recognized by the Ministry of Digital Development, but APKIT assures that not all mechanisms will work immediately, and there will be time to prepare for the new standards.

The Ministry of Digital Development is also concerned about how to verify the knowledge and qualifications of Russian IT specialists. The department has been working for a year on its own system for confirming the functional skills of IT specialists as part of the "Data Economy" project.
