The Yandex team has announced the launch of an update to its mapping service that improves navigation for pedestrians and cyclists. Users can now customize their routes to minimize the number of stairs and steep climbs.
The company's press service noted that the maps now analyze elevation changes and the number of stairs with ramps, offering routes that are easier to navigate. Users can enable the \"Avoid Stairs\" option, and the app will suggest an alternative route without them. If this is not possible, the app will suggest routes where there are stairs with ramps.
In addition, it has become more convenient to follow the route: users can see route details even on a locked screen in Live Activity mode for iOS or via a widget for Android. When approaching a turn, the phone will vibrate, which adds convenience to using navigation.
