МТС оштрафовали на 3 миллиарда рублей за увеличение стоимости тарифов для абонентов

The price of the operator's services increased by 8% for 30 million customers

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has issued an order to PJSC "MTS" to transfer 3 billion rubles to the budget. The decision was made after considering an antitrust case related to the unreasonable increase in tariffs by the mobile operator. This is stated in the FAS message.

The agency emphasized that in April and May 2024, MTS increased the cost of services by 8% for 30 million subscribers. This infringed on the interests of customers and was an economically unreasonable decision.

Such a measure of seizing unreasonably received income from raising tariffs and transferring funds to the budget was applied by the agency for the first time when establishing such an offense. The FAS of Russia believes that it is proportionate and will contribute to the effective prevention of such unfair practices among telecom operators.

It is worth noting that MTS was also obliged to reduce tariffs for those subscribers who were affected by the increase in cost.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the FAS initiated cases against MTS, Megafon, and Beeline.
