A key turbine component has been installed at the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP, which is under construction in the Turkish province of Mersin. This is a low-pressure rotor, which weighs 255 tons, the Rosatom press service reported.
The last of the two rotors was installed using an overhead crane in the turbine building. According to Sergei Butskikh, CEO of Akkuyu Nuclear, the installation of the rotor is a technically complex operation that requires special precision.
All the main large-sized components of the turbine unit of Unit No. 1 of the Akkuyu NPP have been installed in the design position.
Before testing the unit, the nuclear engineers will align the turbine shaft line and ensure the tightness of its secondary circuit.
