Russian military personnel on the front lines have begun using D-74 guns alongside 122-mm D-30 howitzers. They are less well-known than the "thirties," but surpass them in some characteristics.
The D-74 is heavier than the D-30, 5500 kg versus 3200 kg. However, the former has a longer range: 24,000 m versus 15,300 m. The initial projectile velocity is 885 m/s versus 690 m/s, respectively.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rostec had delivered a new batch of armored BMD-4M and BMP-3s with "Nakidka" protection kits to the troops. The additional protection includes products to enhance armor and lattice screens.
