Борец с подлодками врага и морскими пиратами: российский корабль «Неустрашимый» прибыл на Кубу

Along with the unique patrol ship, the tanker \"Elnia\" and the training ship \"Smolny\" entered the port of the republic's capital

A detachment of ships from the Baltic Fleet arrived in the port of Havana on an unofficial visit on the eve of the Navy Day. During the stay of the Russian guests in the port, Cubans could visit a large tour of \"Smolny\" and \"Neustrashimy\".

\"Neustrashimy\" is the lead ship of Project 11540 (code \"Yastreb\"). It was completed by shipbuilders of the Baltic Shipbuilding Plant USC \"Yantar\" in 1990, and has been part of the Baltic Fleet since 1991. The ship is designed to solve a number of tasks, in particular:

  • searching, tracking and destroying submarines, providing anti-ship and anti-submarine defense of warships and vessels at sea;
  • striking ships and vessels at sea and bases;
  • supporting the combat operations of ground forces;
  • ensuring the landing of naval assault forces.

The ship is armed with an AK-100 artillery mount with a firing range of more than 21 kilometers, Kinzhal and Kortik missiles, 533-millimeter torpedoes, and a Ka-27 deck helicopter.

\"Neustrashimy\" has a length of 129.6 meters, a width of 15.6 meters and a displacement of 3590 tons. It can reach speeds of up to 30 knots. The ship's crew of 210 people can stay on an autonomous voyage for up to 30 days.

During its service until it was put on its first repair in 2014, \"Neustrashimy\" traveled about 120 thousand nautical miles, made several dozen foreign voyages, including to the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean.

In 2008, it became the first Russian ship to join operations against Somali sea pirates and escorted merchant ships in the Horn of Africa region.

Also, before the repair, \"Neustrashimy\" participated in the international naval exercises Baltops, provided a number of official visits, including the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to London in 2003, worked at solemn international events and even starred in several films.

In 2023, the ship was launched after a long repair at its home Kaliningrad shipyard PSZ \"Yantar\", which switched to modernization. As a result, \"Neustrashimy\" received:

  • modern navigation, radar surveillance and target detection equipment;
  • restored working artillery complex;
  • anti-aircraft missile system;
  • means of controlling movement, fighting for survivability, radiation, chemical and biological protection;
  • communication complexes;
  • additional anti-submarine weapons.

There are only two ships of this project in Russia. In addition to \"Neustrashimy\", \"Yaroslav Mudry\" has been part of the Russian Navy since 2009. It was laid down at the Yantar shipyards in 1988 under the name \"Nepristupny\", but was completed only by the end of the 2000s due to the collapse of the USSR and the problems that arose after that in domestic shipbuilding.
