Specialists from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) completed the initial survey of the Domna motor-sailing catamaran (project SKAT 55 001) at the end of September. They inspected the mechanisms and systems of the small vessel and also took part in sea trials, the Register's press service reported.
The Domna vessel with a carbon fiber hull was built at the site of the Skat Scientific and Production Transport Complex (NPTK SKAT LLC) from Sevastopol. Its length is 17 m, width – 8.2 m, board height – 2.9 m, draft – 1.6 m. Domna is capable of speeds up to 7 knots.
According to Alexander Uvarov, director of Skat, sea trials are taking place in Turkey. All tests and system checks will be completed in 2025.
The vessel has a hybrid power plant: 2 diesel and 2 electric motors. Engineers also used Russian components — traction batteries, electric motors, electrical equipment, epoxy resin and sandwich panels.
The Domna vessel is designed for ocean travel. According to experts, its estimated cost will be 120 million rubles.
