RCC Progress is creating a reusable rocket similar to Falcon 9

Rocket and Space Center "Progress", part of Roscosmos, is actively developing the reusable methane rocket "Amur-LNG".

General Designer of RCC Ravil Akhmetov said that within this project, a separate design bureau was created, which deals with all aspects of rocket development, including experiments on landing the first stage. "Amur-LNG" will become a domestic analogue of the Falcon 9 rocket and will be launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

It is expected that the technical design will be completed by the end of 2024, and the first launch with a reusable first stage is scheduled for 2030. The contract for the development of the preliminary design was signed in October 2020, and work has been actively continuing since then.

In April 2023, Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov noted that "Amur-LNG" will be significantly more efficient in operation compared to Falcon 9. The technical design of the launch complex for "Amur-LNG" is also planned to be completed in the near future, and it may be located next to the "Angara" site.
