State Duma deputies adopted in the second and third readings a bill under which concealment of license plates is punishable by deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for up to 1.5 years.
The punishment will be for using devices that hide car license plates. For example, we are talking about flip frames, when, when you press a certain button, the frames with numbers flip over on the car.
In addition, administrative liability is introduced for repeated driving of a vehicle without license plates for a period of one to 1.5 years.
Auto journalist Maxim Kadakov considers the punishment too lenient. In his opinion, for using flip frames, you need to revoke rights for at least 5 years, and even better, confiscate the car.
And for the manufacture, sale and installation at service stations of such devices, you need to close the business with millions of fines.
Note that currently for concealing license plates, a fine of 5 thousand rubles or deprivation of the right to drive for a period of one to three months is provided.
